EFL to discuss transfer window changes

Following the decision of the Premier League to revert back to the traditional end to the summer transfer window at the end of August, the EFL have confirmed clubs will discuss doing the same with the Championship later this month.

Last summer saw both the Premier League and Championship agree to close the transfer window on the Thursday prior to the start of the top flight campaign.

With European leagues opting to remain with a deadline day at the end of August, the Premier League yesterday reversed the decision so as to not be disadvantaged by the early end to the window.

And now the EFL clubs will now discuss the possibility of doing the same with the Championship when they meet later this month.

“It is a very difficult game for us, but Sheffield (Wednesday) is a good team, but not a magic team.”

heir promotion push is now hanging by a thread after a run of just one victory from their last seven Championship matches.

Some critics have questioned manager Garry Monk's decision-making following the downturn in the team's results. His team selection and tactics have come under fire in some quarters because Wednesday have dropped from third to 11th in the space of six weeks.

Monk has taken his fair share of responsibility for their poor run of form.

"We (managers) always make mistakes - no one is perfect," he said.
