Jos Luhukay, the Sheffield Wednesday manager, has congratulated Ash Baker on his maiden Wales Under-21 call-up.
Baker, an unused substitute in Saturday's win at Reading, was included in the Welsh squad last week.
The defender, who has made three Owls appearances this season, travelled down and met up with the rest of Robert Page's side yesterday.
Luhukay told The Star: "It's very positive. I like it very much that the nomination and respect (from Wales) is there.
"In the last weeks, Ash has developed himself and made a good progression.
"The call-up is an experience for him and a good challenge. I think it gives him a lot of confidence and it's a chance for him to come back to us with a good feeling."
Wales entertain Liechtenstein at Bangor's Nantporth Stadium this Friday before hosting Portugal at the same venue on Tuesday, September 11.
Page's men lie fourth in Group B, eight points behind leaders Bosnia-Herzegovina and six points behind second-placed Portugal.
Wales Under-21 squad: Pilling, Evans, Coxe, Norrington-Davies, Poole, Harries, Rodon, Christie Davies, Lewis, Harris, Babos, Morrell, Thomas, Matondo, Cullen, Broadhead, James, Baker.
