Dave Jones is targeting a first clean sheet of the season when Huddersfield visit Hillsborough tomorrow.

Wednesday have made well-documented efforts to improve their strike force this season but Jones admits that recent results add to the evidence that they must also tighten up.

“We have to improve defensively,” he said. “We haven’t kept a clean sheet yet; that tells you it’s not just about scoring.”

Two goals and several chances conceded in the Reading game followed by three goals at Derby came after many occasions when even one goal against was enough to deny the Owls victory.

“It might have been only one goal but we’ve still conceded in every game,” added Jones.

“So there are areas to work on; we don’t just work on one, but on them all. You’re never the finished article by a long, long away.

“We know the situation we’re in. We need to get points; we’re more than capable of doing it; the players have got to go out and do that.”

A defence change is likely with Kamil Zayatte rated only 50-50 because of his ankle injury and Miguel Llera set to partner Roger Johnson at centre back.
