Sheffield Wednesday’s move to sign Roger Johnson on loan firms up a long-lasting link between the Wolves centre half and Dave Jones.

The Owls manager was interested in taking Johnson on loan 16 months ago but Wolves ruled out letting him go.

The two also worked together at Cardiff.

But Wolves boss Kenny Jackett said today: “Roger is set to go to Sheffield Wednesday on loan for three months. I think it’s all agreed, The paperwork hasn’t been done but it’s all agreed verbally.

“I’m pleased for Roger; it means he can move on and play some football and contribute to what is a very good club at Sheffield Wednesday.

“It was hard for him here but he is ready to play for Dave Jones’ team and we wish him all the best at Sheffield.”

Owls chairman Milan Mandaric confirmed that the deal was expected to go through: “It’s quite close. I’d be very surprised if it doesn’t take place.”
