The centre-half hasn't played since limping out of the Owls' 2-0 Carabao Cup win at Sunderland on August 16 with an ankle injury.

Manager Jos Luhukay has revealed it will be weeks before the Dutch 24-year-old is back in first-team contention.

"It takes a few weeks before he comes back into training," Luhukay said. "It then takes time before he comes back into the team."

Tom Lees and Jordan Thorniley have been the central-defence pairing as the Owls have racked up four Championship matches without defeat, and the club signed Michael Hector on loan from Chelsea on August 31 transfer deadline day to add to their options.

The new is better for midfielder Sam Hutchinson who spent time seeing a specialist in Barcelona during the international break to clear up a groin problem.

He was expected to resume training today.

"I hope Sam will be back on Monday," said Luhukay after Saturday's 2-2 home draw with Stoke City.
