Sheffield Wednesday defender Liam Cooper a 'doubt' for Millwall clash at Hillsborough

Sheffield Wednesday may be without defender, Liam Cooper, when they take on Millwall this weekend.

Cooper has played a lot of football since joining the Owls as a free agent back in November, with Henrik Pedersen admitting that he probably played too much too soon after a lengthy period without a club prior to his move.

The 34-year-old has made 12 appearances for Wednesday so far, but there seems to be a chance that he won’t add to that tally at Hillsborough on Saturday as he nurses an issue that he’s struggling with.

Liam Cooper is a doubt for Sheffield Wednesday

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Pedersen said that there were no fresh injury concerns that would rule any new players out of the game, but explained that they’d have to wait and see on the former Leeds United centre back.

He said, “Compared to the last game, everyone besides Coops - where there is a little bit of doubt - should be ok. We had two really good sessions with high intensity and quality, and there’s only Coops where there is a question mark right now.”

Meanwhile, on some of the other current absentees, Pedersen added, “We hope that Sean (Fusire) will be back in two weeks, we hope Dominic (Iorfa) will soon be back again. Pierce (Charles) will maybe take three or four weeks, (Nathaniel) Chalobah two to four weeks, so we’re looking at the situation.”

Wednesday take on the Lions at 3pm on Saturday afternoon as they look to finally end their long goal drought, and potentially pick up their first home win of the season. Their fans could certainly do with something to smile about.
