5. L: Stoke City
Stoke don’t play West Brom until tonight but reports over the weekend claimed Preston have reported the Potters to the EFL for an alleged illegal approach to appoint Alex Neil as their new manager.

6. W: Sam Surridge (Swansea City)
The on-loan Bournemouth striker struck in the third minute of injury time to grab the winner in a 2-1 victory at Wigan Athletic. The Swans remain level on points with the top two.

7. L: Helder Costa (Leeds United)
Costa got the nod ahead of fit-again Pablo Hernandez before being replaced by him on 77 minutes. Former Whites striker Noel Whelan blasted the winger’s performance, claiming he is “shocking at times and non-existent in games.”

8. W: Preston North End
Paul Gallagher’s 58th-minute penalty sent Alex Neil’s side top of the Championship at The Valley. The match-winner replaced Daniel Johnson on the half-hour mark, who hobbled off. Preston will be hoping his injury is not too serious.
