Sheffield Wednesday fans might not have got the result they were hoping for in the Carabao Cup against Wolves last night but the Hillsborough faithful can take one positive from the match.

The Owls recorded one of the highest attendances across last night’s second round fixtures – going against the trend of low mid-week cup attendances.

Hillsborough’s crowd of 13,597 was only beaten by Brighton v Southampton (13,651) and the biggest crowd of the night at Elland Road for Leeds v Preston (18,652).

Stoke attracted just 7,290 fans for their 2-0 win over Huddersfield while Cardiff attracted a crowd of just 6,953 to the 3-1 defeat against Norwich.

Hull's KCOM Stadium hosted its lowest ever crowd, 4,666, as the Tigers lost 4-0 to Derby County.

The smallest crowd of the night was at Wycombe, who only had 1,934 to watch them beat Forest Green 4-3 on penalties.
