Owls boss Stuart Gray has confirmed he is trying to sign CSKA Sofia striker Sergiu Bus.

It is thought the Championship club have had a 500,000 euro (£375,000) bid accepted for the 22-year-old Romanian forward.

Bulgarian A Grupa leaders Sofia today claimed on their official website that Bus is undergoing a medical with Wednesday and is expected to sign today.

But Gray, speaking at his pre-match press briefing ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Reading, says those reports are inaccurate, insisting Bus has yet agree personal terms or have a medical.

He said: “I think someone has jumped the gun a little bit. It’s a case of getting him in the building and subject to agreeing terms and a medical.

“He [Bus] os a hard working centre forward who has got an eye for a goal. We are a bit short of them. He’s a hungry boy who wants to come here.”

Bus joined Sofia last summer and scored 10 goals in 18 starts before the winter break. He also contributed five assists.

He started his career with hometown club CFR Cluj, scoring three goals in 23 appearances including the Europa League.

Bus scored 15 goals in 57 appearances during three different loan spells from Cluj before joining Sofia.

He also netted four times in seven games for Romania U21.
