Star forward Fernando Forestieri is calling on Wednesday to build on their fine pre-season victory over Benfica as the new Championship season draws ever closer.
Forestieri was on target for the second friendly match running as Carlos Carvalhal's side saw off the reigning Portuguese champions at Hillsborough earlier this week.
Wednesday remain unbeaten in pre-season, recording two wins and a draw from their three outings.
Speaking from their training base in Portugal today, Forestieri told The Star: "We put in a great performance against Benfica. They are a big team and play in the Champions League every year.
"Maybe they went on to the pitch over confident after beating Derby 4-0 but we played very well and it gives us a lot of confidence.
"I know it was only a friendly but if we keep on playing like that, we can do well this season."
Wednesday, who have signed Steven Fletcher and Jake Kean over the summer, are training twice a daily in sweltering conditions in the Algarve. The sessions are consisting of a mixture of ball and fitness work.
"The mood is really good in the camp," said Forestieri, who netted 15 goals in the Owls' promotion push last term. "It is so good to be back as a group and preparing for the first game of the season.
Academy graduate Joe Wildsmith has not travelled, having hurt his finger in the warm-up against Benfica.
But Keiren Westwood, Steven Fletcher and Gary Hooper have resumed full training after shaking off minor injuries.
