SHEFFIELD Wednesday’s fans are divided over whether the club should offer trialist Marlon Harewood a permanent contract.
The experienced striker has spent the majority of pre-season training with the Owls and has featured in several of their warm-up matches. He opened his account in midweek, grabbing a hat-trick in a 4-1 victory over Kilmarnock.
Wednesday manager Dave Jones plans on sitting down with Harewood and his representatives next week to discuss his long-term future.
Yesterday, I asked Owls fans on Twitter who thinks Harewood deserves a deal and James @coleman1905 replied: “No; Marlon’s not good enough for Championship standard.”
Owl Fan @sheffwedfc says he is also unsure over Harewood, who has represented Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Newcastle United, but said: “He couldn’t do anymore than score a hat-trick in the last pre-season game. Give him one year!”
Adam Holder @adamswfc added: “I would say he deserves a chance. We can give him a half-year deal. He is a free transfer so wouldn’t be a “flop” as much.”
