The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust website was launched last night and gained support on social media, promising to streamline the relationship between the board room and terraces and in doing so increase the fans’ influence on club matters.

A spokesperson on the website said: “We all feel Wednesday fans should speak with a stronger voice and have better connections and influence with the club. We want the Trust to represent the views of Trust members and the wider fanbase providing effective dialogue between fans and the club.”

The meeting, which will take place at Crookes Social Club on Monday March 16 at 7pm, will be attended by officials from the Football Supporters’ Association and aims to form a democratically-elected body.

The website says: “Wednesday are one of only a few clubs in the Championship not to have a Supporters’ Trust affiliated to the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA).

“We aim to create a members-based democratic fans’ group that will: Provide a platform for the views of the fans on key issues affecting the success of the club and the overall supporter experience, respectfully and professionally engage and communicate with the club on issues such as corporate strategy, governance and match day experience and positively impact the wider Sheffield Wednesday community by working collaboratively with individuals and groups invested in, and affected by the club.”
