Thousands made the trip to Stoke on Good Friday which again saw Wednesday fall to defeat and then a few days later an incredible atmosphere at Hillsborough almost saw that elusive victory, only for Leicester City to score late on and the home supporters had to settle for a draw.

“The home game against Watford was a good atmosphere, the game against Ipswich was really good,” Henrik Pedersen smiled in conversation with The Star post-match. “But the atmosphere today [against Leicester] was just magic. It is for sure the best atmosphere we have had in this season. This support, this energy and this mirror they brought for us was amazing. We can come through a very difficult period, in the small picture today but also in the big picture.

“The togetherness between the fans and the players on the pitch was amazing. They sang for the whole game, but they sang more when they could see the boys were really tired.”
