The Athletic reported yesterday that the Jamaican international is the subject of interest from QPR following a torrid start to his Premier League return with Fulham.

Hector spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Hillsborough from Chelsea and impressed enough for Wednesday to launch a summer-long effort to bring him to the club on a permanent basis.

The price tag proved too much, though, and he signed for Fulham in January for somewhere in the region of £5m, going on to win the Championship playoffs.

The Cottagers’ horror start at the back this season saw Hector dropped and after Scott Parker brought in centre-halves Joachim Andersen and Tosin Adarabioyo last week, it could be that the 28-year-old’s time at Fulham is numbered.

Garry Monk’s Wednesday are linked with a handful of defenders but it is suspected Hector’s signing – even on loan – would once again present something of a financial obstacle at a time that has seen the club attempt to tighten their belts.

It hasn’t stopped Wednesdayites debating the merits of bringing Hector back, though..

@Nealholden7: I'd sooner keep Iorfa. Hector's confidence looks shot..

@johnowl5: Hector is a good player he’s too relaxed in premiership though he needs a fight and Wednesday are his club to do that and be great again!!

@stevens1518: No. He could have come... He didn't, we move on.

@WawawDave: Good championship player. Seems premiership is too good for him unfortunately.

@Jordanswfcno1: Are all these people saying no forgetting how good he was and that he won player of the year...get outta here

@NickRadford23: Yes. I expect they'd want more than we should pay, so I doubt it would happen.

@fevowl: Definitely....him and Lees played well together and with Iorfa as well

@Myers29_: Tell you what, regardless of how he's getting on at Fulham, I'd still have Hector back at #swfc in a heartbeat. A back 3 of him, Big Dom and Dunkley would be solid.

@MatthewStanle19: Hector looks half the player he did at #SWFC shame
