Sheffield Wednesday have today completed the double signing of Blackburn Rovers striker Leon Best and Chelsea defender Sam Hutchinson on a month’s loan.
Best and Hutchinson are eligible to play in tomorrow’s FA Cup fifth round meeting with Charlton Athletic.
Best, capped seven times by the Republic of Ireland, has not played for Rovers since mid-October. The 27-year-old, who had two loan spells at Wednesday during the 2005/06 season, hitting two goals in 16 outings, missed the majority of last season through injury.
Hutchinson, a graduate of Chelsea’s youth system, is primarily a centre-half but can be deployed at right-back. The Londoner has made six-first-team appearances for the Blues. The 24-year-old was twice farmed out on loan to Nottingham Forest last season. He played nine times for them.
Hutchinson spent the first half of this term on loan at Vitesse Arnhem in the Netherlands. He came on as a late substitute in their win at Ajax. Premier League giants Chelsea recalled him in January.
