Here are Owls writer Dom Howson's player ratings (only players with more than five appearances this season have been included):

. Keiren Westwood 7.5
Westwood was frozen out in the first half of the campaign under former manager Jos Luhukay but excelled after returning to the team just before Christmas, clocking up an impressive 11 clean sheets in 21 outings. Photo: JP
. Cameron Dawson 6
Dawson endured a mixed season. It took him until the 17th match of the season to record a clean sheet. There were times when he was left horribly exposed by his defence but Dawson's form was also patchy. Photo: jp
. Liam Palmer 6
The full-back was in and out of the team under Luhukay but has flourished since the turn of the year. Palmer has acquitted himself well in multiple positions, prompting Steve Bruce to offer him a new contract. Photo: Steve Ellis
. Ash Baker 5
The 22-year-old international played 12 times in his first full season at Championship level. He has yet to feature since Bruce's appointment, falling behind Dominic Iorfa and Palmer in the pecking order for a starting berth. Photo: Steve Ellis
. Dominic Iorfa 6.5
Iorfa chipped in with three goals and added some much-needed pace and athleticism after arriving on January deadline-day. The only blot on his copybook came in the form of a needless red card at Preston North End in the penultimate fixture. Photo: jp
. Morgan Fox 5.5
His confidence and performances dipped towards the end of Luhukay's reign and he struggled to hold down a regular starting spot. But Fox has shown plenty of character to turn around his Wednesday fortunes and help the club secure a top half finish. Photo: Steve Ellis
. Achraf Lazaar 5.5
Things went downhill for Lazaar following his superb debut against Swansea City. Injuries limited the Morocco international to just four outings. It was a shame it did not work out. Photo: jp
. Tom Lees 6.5
Lees was part of the leakiest defence in the division prior to Christmas. His form was inconsistent. The skipper, though, has upped his game this calendar year, forming a strong partnership with Michael Hector at the heart of their rearguard. Photo: Steve Ellis
. Michael Hector 8
The Chelsea loanee deservedly scooped the player of the season award after an outstanding season. Classy on the ball and commanding in the air, Hector was a shining light in for Wednesday fans in a rollercoaster year. Photo: Steve Ellis
. Jordan Thorniley 6
Was deployed in a number of positions and the former Everton youngster has never let the side down. Thorniley, primarily a centre-half, largely provided back up to Lees and Hector in the last couple of months. Photo: Steve Ellis
. Daniel Pudil 5
Not a year to remember for the Czech Republic international. He played a meagre 11 times, with his last appearance coming in Luhukay's final match in charge at Swansea City. Will leave Hillsborough at the end of his contract. Photo: JP
17. Barry Bannan 7
Despite going off the boil after a strong start to the season, Bannan was one of Wednesday's standout performers. His creativity, vision and diverse passing range caught the eye. He also notched five goals. Photo: jp
18. Sam Hutchinson 6
The return of Hutchinson and Westwood coincided with an upturn in the Owls' fortunes. Hutchinson was like a new signing, giving Wednesday extra bite and aggression in the middle of the park. The key with Hutchinson is to keep him out of the treatment room. Photo: Steve Ellis
19. Josh Onomah 4
The midfielder is unlikely to have fond memories of his loan spell at Hillsborough. Plagued by injuries throughout his season long-loan deal, Onomah failed to shine. Photo: Steve Ellis
20. Joey Pelupessy 6
Consistency remains the big issue with the Dutchman. There are times when his combative qualities complimented Bannan well in the centre. You just wish Pelupessy imposed his will a little more on matches. Photo: Steve Ellis
