Garry Monk’s side have five home games left to play this season should it be given the green light to continue, and there has been talk in English football of potentially using neutral venues rather than the home grounds of each respective team.

Now though, the league have been clear on their stance on the matter, and it’s good news for the Owls and their Hillsborough home as the team continues their preparations for a possible restart next month.

A statement from an EFL spokesman said, "It remains our intention to play all remaining League matches at Clubs' home grounds as long as they comply with the relevant Government guidance.

"We will only seek to move matches if they are not permitted by the relevant local authority, following any representations from the local police force."

Wednesday players headed back to Middlewood Road earlier this week as Monk began putting them through their paces after an absence of over two months, and the news of the Premier League restart on June 17th has given hope that the Championship will not be too far behind.

A vote involving all 70 EFL clubs is set to take place on June 8th as the wait goes on for teams across the country with regards to when – or if – they can get back out on the field again.
