'Definite interest' in Sheffield Wednesday boss as Premier League dropouts create shortlist- reports
Sheffield Wednesday manager, Danny Röhl, is of ‘definite interest’ to Leicester City according to a Sky Sports reporter.
The future of the Owls boss is very much up in the air as the 2024/25 season comes to an end, with plenty of talk of whether he will remain in charge of the club for the season ahead. His former club, Southampton, have been credited with big interest after parting ways with Ivan Juric following their relegation out of the Premier League.
They aren’t the only future Championship club said to be keen, though, with Röhl also being linked with the Foxes as a replacement for Ruud an Nistelrooy, with Rob Dorsett saying that the Owls boss is on their shortlist.
Röhl on Leicester shortlist
"Ruud Van Nistelrooy will meet with Leicester's bosses this week to discuss his future,” he explained. “It's been described to me as 'informal' discussions at this stage, but it's thought he will remain in charge for the rest of this season, the final games of the Premier League campaign.
"I think it suits both parties for that to happen, but beyond that I think you have to say it looks unlikely that either side, whether that's Leicester or Van Nistelrooy, will want the relationship to continue into the Championship next season. I don't expect that to happen.
"Leicester are already drawing up a shortlist of possible candidates to replace him. That's the really interesting part of this - I've been told that Lee Carsley, Danny Rohl and Russell Martin are all on Leicester's shortlist as possible candidates to replace Van Nistelrooy.
"There is no definite decision that he might go, but definite interest in Danny Rohl, who is in a position as well. Some of those managers are in post, some of them are potentially available at a cheaper rate."
