Midfielder Chris Lines has left Sheffield Wednesday by mutual consent.

The 27-year-old was signed by Gary Megson for Wednesday from Bristol Rovers in August 2011 and made 53 appearances for the club scoring four goals as he played a key role in the Owls’ promotion from League One.

An injury during pre-season last year hampered his progress in the Championship and Lines spent the second half of last season away on loan with MK Dons featuring 18 times for Karl Robinson’s side.
