The defender, who has been a revelation under manager Garry Monk, missed Saturday's goalless home draw to Millwall due to ankle injury.

Fox sustained the knock in the Owls' disappointing defeat at Wigan Athletic last week.

"He was too sore for the weekend which was a shame," Monk told The Star. "He is the type of player you need on the pitch.

"Hopefully his injury will settle down and he will be ready for the following weekend."

In Fox's absence, Moses Odubajo deputised on the left hand side of Wednesday's back four. Odubajo, recruited on a free transfer last summer following his release by Brentford, acquitted himself well while Liam Palmer, fit-again following an ankle problem, put in a solid display on the opposite flank.

Monk, who signed forwards Connor Wickham and Josh Windass on deadline-day, said: "Moses was very good. It is not easy to adapt to the opposite side but he and Palms (Liam Palmer) have done that before.

"I thought his attitude and commitment was good. He had some really good moments. Like everyone else, there were some moments that we will need to improve and go through.

"But I am more pleased than I have been with some of the league games this month.”

Wednesday have dropped to 11th in the Championship after recording just one victory from their last seven league fixtures.

Next up is a trip to second-from-bottom Barnsley.
