Sheffield Wednesday chief Garry Monk delivers Fernando Forestieri injury update ahead of Bristol City test

The forward, whose contract runs out at the end of the season, is struggling to shake off a knee injury he sustained at Charlton Athletic last month.

Speaking to the press corps, manager Garry Monk said: "It (the injury) has been a bit more niggly than we thought.

"He has not been back out on the pitches. He's not likely for this weekend."

Forestieri has played 10 times this season, scoring once.

Asked if he thinks Forestieri will be available for selection over the Christmas period, Monk said: "We hope so. I don't think he is far away from getting back out on the grass."

Captain Tom Lees (hamstring) is fit and Moses Odubajo is pushing for a return after serving a one-match ban, but midfielder Sam Hutchinson is suspended.
