Carlos Carvalhal says he expects further new names at Sheffield Wednesday before the summer transfer window closes.
The Owls head coach is still keen to add a striker before the window shuts next Tuesday, and The Star understands Wednesday have held talks with Norwich City over a loan deal for forward Gary Hooper.
The Owls have also been linked with a move for a teammate of Hooper’s at Carrow Road, centre-back Michael Turner.
While, as usual, Carvalhal would not be drawn on specific names, he remains quietly confident new signings will arrive.
“We are working,” he said.
“Until the transfer window closes, anything can happen - not just in our team but all the teams in the world.
“We will see what will happen in the next few days. I am waiting.
“Like all coaches, I would have preferred to have the full squad for the first game because during this period we have played five matches. But this is the reality.
“We understand the market is not easy.
“Let us see what happens in the next days.
“We have some expectations, but let us see.”
Lucas Joao, Glenn Loovens and Keiren Westwood will all be assessed today ahead of tonight’s Capital One Cup clash against Oxford United at Hillsborough.
