Kieran Lee says he is up for the battle for a starting shirt at Sheffield Wednesday next season.
Plenty of new arrivals are expected at Hillsborough this summer as Dejphon Chansiri’s plans for the club begin to take shape.
And after signing a new two-year deal last week, midfielder Lee says he is ready to fight for the starting berth he held for much of last season: “I’ll enjoy the competition if it comes, just like I have done all the time I’ve been here,” he told The Star.
“You thrive on that competition as a player and it helps you improve.
“We’ll see what happens this summer but I’m up for the battle.”
Lee admits Chansiri’s plans remain unclear but he expects the Owls to be an improved outfit next season.
He said: “We don’t know what is going to happen over the summer yet but all the signs are that we’ll be looking to push on and push for promotion.
“We need to build on what we had last season and score a few more goals.
“It’s about progression for us next season.”
