Both players were forced off during Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup fifth round at Hillsborough.

Borner limped off with some tightness in his hamstring and Lee suffered a groin injury.

Speaking to the media ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Brentford tomorrow, Monk offered an update on the duo.

“Julian was just tightness so we’re very hopeful he should be ok,” he said. “We’ll check on him today and see how he feels.

“Kieran has a slight pull in the groin so he won’t be available for the weekend.”

Monk also revealed that midfielder Massimo Luongo and defender Moses Odubajo have trained for the past two days and could be available for selection, while Adam Reach is expected to return to the practice pitch next week.

On Luongo, he said: ”We’ll have to see, depending on needs must again. But he’s a fit lad naturally and again I’ll have a good look at him today and see if he’s available for selection.”
