Sheffield Wednesday boss Garry Monk on communication he's had with Dejphon Chansiri this week

The Owls have been locked on minus-four points in the Championship table having lost their last three matches in a period that has seen the Wednesday boss come under fire from supporters.
Monk says he remains confident his players can turn that run of form around, starting at Wycombe this weekend, and that he has the support of those above him at the club.

Hide Ad“There’s always constant dialogue and talk,” he said. “That’s just part of the relationship and part of football.
“We’re in a period where we don’t have time to breathe, there are games every few days and the focus is on preparation, preparation. But in terms of communication with the team, the players, with the club itself, that’s always a daily thing and that’s normal.
“I have constant dialogue with him throughout pre-season and throughout this season. That’s a constant thing and it’s a normal process to go through.”
On his ongoing relationship with Chansiri, Monk said it is positive and that the chairman has been supportive of his goal to transition the squad throughout.

Hide AdHe revealed the Thai businessman is in conversation speaks to him before and after each game and throughout the week on matters ranging from the team’s fortunes to the workings of the club.
Speaking ahead of what Monk himself has intimated is a pivotal week for the club, with matches against Bournemouth and Millwall following the trip to Wycombe, the Wednesday manager said: “Before games he wishes us good luck and gives his view and afterwards he’ll text or speak in terms of what he might feel this week.
“It’s not just about games, it’s about everything. There’s a lot of things you talk about at a football club that you need to be aware of and communication can be about a number of things.
“He’s always done that before and after games and during the week. You speak to him and people from the club throughout most days. That’s no different of any other club I’ve been at.”

Hide AdMonk was asked about his future as Owls boss after derby defeat at Rotherham in midweek. His outlook remains the same – that he has the support of Chansiri and the club itself – but reiterated that any decision will be made by them, not him.
Asked whether he has the support of Chansiri in continuing to transition Sheffield Wednesday, Monk said: “My understanding is yes, but these are questions that are for the club.
“In terms of my communication and understanding, [they understand] it takes time to build a team, it takes time to build that culture and all those things.
“But I also know you don’t have the luxury of time as a manager. You have to be able to produce results. That’s just football management.
“You don’t need talk or communication to know that.”
