Star man Barry Bannan is in line to return to the Owls line-up when they visit 10th-placed Bristol City on Sunday.

The midfield playmaker is available for selection again, having completed a one-match suspension.

Bannan sat-out the midweek draw to West Bromwich Albion after accuring five yellow cards this season.

But the Wednesday fans favourite is likely to replace either Joey Pelupessy or Josh Onomah in the middle of the park as Jos Luhukay's side bid to return to winning ways.

Leading marksman Adam Reach told The Star: "Baz is always a miss.

"I don't think we have actually got a good record when he doesn't play. The WBA game showed just how important he is to us. He would helped us control the game a lot more."

Former Aston Villa trainee Bannan has netted two goals in his 11 outings during the 2018/19 campaign.

"He's very tenacious, gets tackles in, breaks up play and he's a leader on the pitch," said Reach. "He coaches and gives players advice.

"We missed Baz (against WBA) but he will be back on Sunday and I'm sure he will bring his quality to the team.

"We have got other experienced players who aren't in the squad who hopefully will come back and help the team."
