Owls midfielder Barry Bannan is in contention for the Championship’s October Player of the Month award.
The Scotland international has played an instrumental role in the Owls rise up the table with his infectious energy and passing range. Carlos Carvalhal’s troops collected 11 points from their five league matches and also caused a major upset in the Capital One Cup, knocking out Premier League big guns Arsenal. They currently sit in eighth position in the Championship, one point shy of the top-six.
Bannan, who has made 12 appearances since arriving on a free transfer from Crystal Palace in August, faces stiff competition from Burnley striker Andre Gray, Brentford midfielder Alan Judge and Birmingham City defender Paul Robinson.
The winner of the prize will be announced tomorrow. The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Head of Communications John Nagle; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
