It was confirmed last week that the 19-year-old had earned himself another call-up for Zimbabwe as they prepare to take on Lesotho and South Africa in their World Cup Qualifiers for the 2026 edition of the competition, and he’ll be hoping to make an impact after being given a very brief debut against Kenya back in March.

Hide AdFixtures are yet to be announce for the tournament, but with a squad largely made up of locally-based players playing in the Castle Premier Soccer League, Phuthi will be hoping that interim manager, Jairos Tapera, will give him the opportunity to showcase his talents for the Warriors at senior level.
Zimbabwe, whose grounds have been declared unfit for international competition, host Lesotho at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg in a ‘home’ game on June 7th, before an away game against Bafana Bafana in Bloemfontein takes place on June 11th at the Free State Stadium.
Phuthi’s contract at Hillsborough was due to expire at the end of this month, though it was confirmed recently that the club had exercised an option in his deal that would see him remain at Wednesday for at least another yeat.
