Sheffield Wednesday and fellow Championship clubs to discuss extending summer transfer window
Sheffield Wednesday will join fellow Championship sides later this month to discuss following the Premier League’s lead and extending the summer transfer window.
Top-flight clubs voted on Thursday to go back to the same summer transfer window as other major European leagues after two years of going it alone.
The window has slammed shut on the eve of the Premier League season for the past two seasons – but several clubs felt it put them at a disadvantage in terms of signing players.
Now Championship clubs will meet at the end of the month to decide whether to fall into line with their Premier League counterparts.
A statement released by the EFL on Friday said: “EFL clubs discuss the matter on an annual basis and will do so at a meeting later this month where a determination will be made as to whether there is to be any change moving forwards.”
