Key Events

  • Oxford take first-half lead
  • Owls could move into play-off places with a win
  • Darren Moore’s side stopped a run of four matches without victory with three points against Wigan on Tuesday
  • Oxford are one place above Sheffield Wednesday but only have two wins in their last seven matches

After a few nervy moments in possession the home side have calmed down a little and are now trying to find their rhythm and get back into this. Bannan, unsurprisingly, at the heart of it.

Oxford should score...then take the lead moments later

Matty Taylor breaks into the box and fires just wide with a low shot to BPF’s left-hand side. Then Cameron Brannagan grabs the opening goal as he bursts into the area on the right-hand side and fires in low before the Owls stopper can get down to the strike.

Visitors have started better but Wednesday have gone up a gear since the goal.

Applause rings around Hillsborough for Jose Semedo

Hillsborough is on its feet for Jose Semedo following the tragic death of his wife Soraia this week at the age of just 34.

A rendition of he’s magic rings around the ground just before Dom Iorfa slides to cut out a dangerous delivery into the Owls’ box.

We think it’s 4-2-3-1 with Barry Bannan out wide. Interesting.

Lewis Wing takes one where it hurts. Never ideal, less so in this weather.

Players boo’d taking the knee

We’re underway at Hillsborough. It’s tipping down and the temperature is dropping by the minute.

Owls could move into the play-offs with a win. That’d make it worth it.

Most players took the knee before kick-off, which was met with some boos.
