Hello and a very warm welcome to The Star’s up-to-the-minute coverage of Sheffield Wednesday’s penultimate pre-season friendly of the 2022/23 season.

La Liga side Rayo Vallecano – who count legendary Colombian striker Radamel Falcao in their number – are tonight’s opposition as Darren Moore looks to continue the good work done in Portugal last week.

We’ll be on hand to deliver every meaningful moment and a whole lot else throughout the evening.

Sheffield Wednesday v Rayo Vallecano

So it’s Palmer on for Famewo and Byers for Vaulks.

Might be another change coming as Bannan is treated by the medical staff.

Wednesday straight out of the blocks as Windass gets a strike on goal. Lopez saves.

Stockdale – 7

Hunt - 6

Heneghan - 9

Iorfa - 7

Famewo - 8

Johnson - 7

Vaulks - 6

Bannan - 7

Adeniran - 7

Windass - 6

Gregory - 6

And that’s the break

1-0 at half time to the visitors after a Jack Hunt own goal... Some decent play from both sides, and the goal Wednesday did concede was unlucky. Productive half of football, really.

The ball works its way to Adeniran on the edge of the box, but he drags his shot wide of the post. Wednesday ending this half quite strongly.

Dom Iorfa powers down the left side, beating three men before his cross finds Windass. It’s cleared in the end, but that was some fine work by the centre back.

Another attack sees Vaulks try to centre the ball only to see it blocked for a corner.

Adeniran tries a dink...

Almost lovely from the midfielder as he tries to clip it over Lopez, but there’s just not enough on it and it’s out for a corner.

A good Wednesday move as Gregory holds up play nicely before feeding Johnson... He drives a ball into the box, but it’s pinched off Windass’ toe by the defender. Nice little move there.

Another good bit of defensively play by Famewo as he slides in to keep Vallecano out after a quick break.
