Revealed: The five-figure cash sum Sheffield Wednesday have earned in FA Cup despite loss to Everton

The FA Cup is over for Sheffield Wednesday until next season after the Owls were defeated by Everton on Sunday.

But Wednesday’s run to the fourth round will be rewarded with a financial boost – courtesy of the FA Cup’s prize fund.

Although the FA confirmed the prize money fund would be reduced this season following the pandemic, winners in each round are able to earn cash.

The Owls pocketed £82,000 after their win over Exeter City in the third round.

That means in total Sheffield Wednesday have gained that sumin FA Cup prize moneyduring their run this year, with no money on offer to losers of fourth round ties.
