Thirty years ago today, Nigel Pearson embarked on a 200-game journey with Sheffield Wednesday.

The Nottingham-born defender was signed by manager Howard Wilkinson for £250,000.

He went on to win the League Cup as captain, during the 1990–91 season, being selected as Man of the Match in the win over Manchester United at Wembley.

At 54, Pearson is currently boss of Belgian club OH Leuven after spells at Derby, Leicester, Hull, and Southampton.
