The versatile 25-year-old, who began his career as a right wing-back but has more recently played as a target man for the Bluebirds, was a fan favourite at Cardiff and key member of the side that won promotion to the Premier League in 2018.

Paterson can also play in midfield but is expected to be used primarily up top by Owls boss Garry Monk.

Callum Paterson has become Sheffield Wednesday's seventh signing of the transfer window after completing a move from Sky Bet Championship rivals Cardiff City.

@ploehmann Paterson is very much a Monk player, yes. Not the worst of finishers either (0.34 goals per 90 in the Championship). I still think there are question marks over his ability on the ball and in the pass but depending on the finances involved he should definitely strengthen us
