It’s now just one win in 10 Championship games for the Owls who are yet to find the back of the net in front of their own supporters in 2020.
Our Owls reporter Dom Howson has given each Wednesday player a score out of 10 following today’s insipid performance. Do you agree with his ratings?
5. Liam Palmer - 4
The boyhood Wednesdayite was given the captain's armband and demonstrated his versatility by switching seamlessly into the left-back role. Most of Reading's threat came Photo: Lewis Storey
6. Alessio Da Cruz - 4
The Parma loanee, deployed on the right flank in Monk's 4-4-2 formation, struggled to make an impact. Da Cruz clearly has ability but the Owls have yet to get the best out of him on a consistent basis. Photo: Nigel Roddis
7. Joey Pelupessy - 4
The Dutchman, preferred to Barry Bannan in the centre, broke up play well at times, putting in a number of strong tackles. But Pelupessy gave them little control in possession and was taken off at half-time. Photo: Nathan Stirk
8. Kieran Lee - 3
The experienced campaigner flitted in an out of the contest. Lee, out of contract at the end of the season, looks a shadow of the player that helped the Owls reach back-to-back play-offs under Carlos Carvalhal. Photo: Bryn Lennon
