Visitors QPR have renewed their strike force with the signing of Macauley Bonne from Charlton Athletic on a three-year deal, for a fee believed to be in the region of £2m.

Bonne scored 11 goals for the Addicks last season, when injuries and the early exit of former Wednesday target Lyle Taylor ahead of the restart saw him step into the role of number one front man.

The 24-year-old Zimbabwe international was officially unveiled as an Rs player this morning and could be in line to make his debut against the Owls.

He started in both of Charlton’s matches against Wednesday last season, scoring the home side’s consolation goal in a 3-1 Owls win at The Valley back in November last year.

The signing significantly strengthens QPR’s attacking options after the losses of Ebe Eze and Jordan Hugill from last season’s squad.

Mark Warburton’s side arrive in South Yorkshire with the same record as Wednesday this season – one win, one draw and one defeat.

The 24-year-old, a £200,000 signing from Leyton Orient just last year, had a number of suitors but says he knew Loftus Road was where he wanted to go.

“As soon as I heard they were interested my head was turned straight away. I’ll even say it – that my head was turned.

“It’s been a few weeks now, it went backward and forward.

“As much as I loved playing at Charlton, QPR should be a Premier League side.”
