Wednesday’s side will look very different next season with a whole host of players confirmed to be moving on, a move that will help Dejphon Chansiri bring down a wage bill at the club that has been severely weighing them down.
According to the German website, Wednesday’s two most valuable players - Adam Reach (£2.5m) and Tom Lees (£1.9m) are leaving the club for free at the end of the month, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t have any players left who are worth some money.
SWFC apparently have six players who are worth upwards of £1m still on their books – and it’ll be interesting to see how many of them are left by the time the transfer window comes to a close in a few weeks’ time.
Here’s the top 10 most valuable Owls players, according to Transfermarkt.com, as things stand:
1. Andre Green - £900,000
Wednesdayite's haven't seen the best of Green yet, but with a good preseason under his belt then he could prove to be a real threat for Moore's side in the third tier. Photo: Steve Ellis
2. Barry Bannan - £1.8m
The captain, the reigning SWFC Player of the Year, and you'd have to say a potential League One Player of the Season contender if he sticks around and plays to the level he's capable of. Could be huge in 2021/22 if another club doesn't try and tempt him away from Hillsborough. Photo: Steve Ellis
3. Chey Dunkley - £900,000
Dunkley had a very stop/start 2020/21 season, but has been shown to be working very hard in recent weeks to make sure that he's ready and raring to go when preseason gets underway. Photo: Steve Ellis.
4. Julian Börner - £1m
One of just five players in the squad with an apparent market value of upwards of £1m... He's looking likely to leave for Hannover in Germany soon, with reports stating that he'll be going for free as the club look to cut down their wage bill. Photo: Steve Ellis
