Price per game? Who can get one? - What you need to know as Sheffield Wednesday release season ticket prices for 2021/22…

The Owls have dropped prices by around 20% across the board ‘following a consultation process with our Supporters Engagement Panel’, and said that members ‘gave unanimous support to the revised structure’ before they were made public today.

It remains to be seen how many fans will be allowed at Hillsborough in August when the League One campaign gets underway, however at 25% capacity – in line with current guidelines – would see less than 10,000 allowed to be present for the season opener.

Here’s a few things you need to know…

How much per game?

As far as the price per game is concerned, the most expensive ticket (on the South Stand) comes to £21.50, while it works out at £19.30 for the North Stand/Grandstand and £15.80 on the Kop.

For U11s, they can get into the Grandstand for £1 per game over the course of the season, and for concessions (over 65s, 17-20-year-olds, Armed Forces, full-time students and disabled supporters) the price per game varies between £8.90 and £12.10 depending on which stand they sit on.

Who can get?

For now, given the potential restrictions because of COVID-19 and lack of clarity at this point regarding attendances for next season, the club have only made season tickets available to those who previously had purchased tickets for the 2020/21 campaign.

Those fans who did have season tickets already, will be given the difference in price as credit for tickets, minus £10 for any game that they used their iFollow pass for last time out.

That credit can be used to buy tickets for home cup games, additional home tickets or future Season Tickets, and will not expire at any point.

Meanwhile, the club said ‘unfortunately given the severe financial impact of COVID-19, we are not in a position to issue cash refunds’.

When will they be available to everyone else?

The club is waiting on the government guidelines to be confirmed, and can only put season tickets on general sale once they’re made aware of how many people they will actually be allowed into games.

Wednesday cannot make any decisions themselves in that regard, and will have to wait until more guidelines are released in the coming weeks.

What happens if there are more season ticket holders than fans allowed in stadiums?

The club explained this by saying, “For any fixtures that are played with a reduced capacity, a ballot process will be required and only 2021/22 Season Ticket holders will be applicable to apply. Season Ticket holders who are successful in the ballot process may be subject to alternative seating arrangements in line with social distancing requirements.

“If any fixtures that are played behind closed doors, the Club will offer a full pro-rata ticket credit for the affected fixture(s) or a suitable alternative such as a live streaming service or partial credit where applicable (relative to the value of your Season Ticket). Any such compensation will be processed at the end of the season on to the Season Ticket holders account.”
