'Players have no fight or willingness to win' - Sheffield Wednesday fans vent their anger after another defeat

Ten-man Sheffield Wednesday’s dismal league form since Christmas shows no sign of coming to an end as they were handsomely beaten 3-0 by Reading at Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon.

The Owls’ dismal run continued as goals from Yakou Meite, George Puscas and Sam Baldock sealed a comfortable win for Mark Bowen’s side, who returned to Berkshire with their first Championship victory since New Year’s Day.

Wednesday’s woes were compounded when teenage defender Osaze Urhoghide was sent off shortly after half time for a second bookable offence as Garry Monk’s side slipped to another loss – making it just one win in 10 league games for the Owls.

Speaking after the defeat, Wednesday boss Garry Monk said: "We are in a very difficult cycle that we can't seem to get out of. It is not good enough."

And on Twitter, Wednesdayites were also far from happy with what they had witnessed.

@splan80 Suppose today is another indication of where we are at. Play players who give what they can but are limited and can't control a game or swallow your pride and play your best team. Going for the former means there's a stick to bash you with if it fails. Monk needs to sort it. #swfc

@RocketOwl1986 It’s hard to understand why if Monk wanted rid of Westwood and Hutchinson he doesn’t just wait till end of season. By doing a Jos and making this call during a season doesn’t make any sense whatsoever especially when it means we have to play Pelupessy which weakens us #swfc

@RichieMac69 The style of football (or lack of it) under Monk is dire #swfc

@TheDazzler43 #swfc Clean sweep required in the summer, all out of contract players, manager, backroom staff have to go. Assuming we get the points deduction, that chapter will be over. So rebuild from scratch, get some money in for saleable assets then go again. Hopefully DC goes too #UTO

@S35CB #swfc Didn’t Monk say a few games ago that we know what mistakes we made and we have leaned from them? Didn’t he say we will move on and rectify the problems? So, why are we still a laughing stock? Why aren’t we improving? Why do we roll over and die when attacked? Why? Please tell.

@GrantR_1867 We’re going down, these players have no fight or willingness to win. Glad I haven’t renewed.

@_GeorgeSmith99 I haven't been at Hillsborough today so I can't really pass comment on Sheffield Wednesday's performance. But from what I've been told, it sounded as though the Owls were not at the races again. This is fast becoming a nightmare for the club. Big, big changes are needed.

@Jamesy_boy All we want is a bit of entertainment at home matches. 4-4-2 At home take it to the opposition. Play 4-5-1 Away no problems. Just not at home. We can't even pass the ball at the moment #swfc

@RussAmos333 Basically a Jos situation all over again!! Hutch and Westwood can’t be that bad if both Bullen and Bruce put them straight back and and results picked up from there. They’re both strong characters and liked. It’s a simple personality clash which is now having ripples #swfc
