Monk blasted Clotet in the lead-up to the Championship game, intimating that his former coach had betrayed him when they’d worked together at Birmingham.

Clotet said that he tried to speak to Monk before kick-off to clear the air but was snubbed by the Owls chief – saying it showed a lack of manners.

“With Garry all those five years we worked together, I always put his personal interests before mine,” said Clotet.

“Everything him and me lived together for is very positive. I hope that we will respect that when we are speaking in front of the media for our clubs we act professionally and we should be thinking of speaking about facts, not this sort of thing.

“I wanted to ask him why he said that, and I wanted to offer him my handshake. When I try to talk to him and give him my hand, it is the hand of Birmingham City. Manners have to be on top of everything. But it was refused.”

Clotet had looked like getting the better of his former boss when Alvaro Gimenez struck on 48 minutes to give the visitors an undeserved lead.

But Kadeem Harris earned the Owls a point with a late leveller to ensure neither manager lost face.
