Sheffield Wednesday slipped to a 2-1 defeat in their pre-season friendly with Russian top flight side FC Arsenal Tula.
Speedy forward Michail Antonio put the Owls ahead but their joy was short-lived as Bazanov levelled things up in the eighth minute.
Wednesday came close to regaining the lead on the stroke of half-time when Atdhe Nuhiu struck the crossbar from close range.
With 15 minutes remaining of the Owls’ third warm-up match of the summer, Owls trialist Dejan Kelhar, a 30-year-old centre-back, blazed over the crossbar following a corner by Chris Maguire.
But Tula completed the turnaround in the 85th minute as substitute Ryzhkov fired a shot past Joe Wildsmith.
The match rounded off Wednesday’s five-day training camp in Slovenia.
As well as Kelhar, Gray also named a trialist on the bench. He is believed to be Sydney-born Paul Katsetis.
Right-back Lewis Buxton was left out of the match-day squad, having failed to shake off a knee problem.
