For a bit of fun, we fired up the latest edition of Football Manager and - through means not entirely in keeping with the spirit of FFP - ploughed £200 million into Sheffield Wednesday at the start of the 2019/20 season, then sat back to watch the drama unfold. Here's how the following decade went.
9. John Sheridan steps in
Siewert's side are not doing well, and he's relieved of his duties by Christmas. The ex-Owls star is a popular new appointment, and drags his team up to an 11th place finished. (Photo by Lewis Storey/Getty Images) Photo: Lewis Storey
10. Sheridan steps away
Sheridan is gone! Hull City lose their manager and make him an offer he can't refuse. Seamus Coleman steps in as caretaker manager, before Nigel Pearson takes the reigns. (Photo by JUSTIN TALLIS/AFP via Getty Images) Photo: JUSTIN TALLIS
11. Pearson brings back the old gang
Nige spends £5m to bring Jordan Thorniley, now in his prime, back to the club. Morgan Fox turns too, after spending some time with Bristol City in the Premier League. (Photo by Harry Trump/Getty Images) Photo: Harry Trump
12. A new face in the hot-seat
Pearson is gone by Christmas, and Steven Naismith is given a crack after some solid spells with Oldham Athletic and Salford. The Owls finish in 13th, and Naismith stays another season - they finish 20th. (Photo by Ian MacNicol/Getty Images) Photo: Ian MacNicol
