SHEFFIELD Wednesday failed to make the most of an away game against strugglers Walsall and came away with just a point after a 1-1 draw, writes Graham Walker.

But it the result saw Walsall, six places and 10-points below the owls, drop into the League One relegation zone.

Jon Macken fired the Saddlers ahead early on after Julian Gray’s cross had deflected into his path.

The Owls drew level midway through the first half when Jimmy Walker parried a Lewis Buxton effort to the feet of Neil Mellor, who tapped in the equaliser.

Walker tipped a Buxton drive wide and Gary Madine headed over for the Owls, but the home side held on for a point.
