His magnificent looping header at the back post from a sublime Kadeem Harris ball into the box helped Neil Thompson’s men make it four wins from five Championship games to move within three points of fourth-from-bottom Birmingham City with a game in hand.

Earlier Callum Paterson had given the Owls the lead on the stroke of half-time before his effort was cancelled out from the spot by Junior Stanislas midway through the second period.

It was Wednesday’s first win on their travels in 10 league matches but more importantly moves them to within touching difference of safety as they continue their bid to stave off relegation.

So what did Wednesdayites make of tonight’s victory?

Let’s take a look at a selection of your views on Twitter.

@S6Addict Neil Thompson masterclass. There are no other words.

@chris_brookes Lad scores the best part of 200 goals in the few years before joining #swfc, gets mostly no supply in the time he’s on the pitch, fewer and fewer starts, loses all confidence, loaned out, sometimes doesn’t even make matchday squads. Maybe players are actually...human beings?

@WTIDPOD Don’t you just think the team have much more spirit and fight under Thompson?

@electricgiblets Bigz Osaze's record of 100% league wins when he starts this season continues.

@all_wednesday This is what our club is about, not a chairman, 11 lads giving everything for the club, fans, caretaker manager and the staff! They were outstanding tonight! We’re all in this together.

@HatScarfShirt It does rather feel like @Callump7 has been the signing of the season so far. A team effort for sure, particularly recently, but he inspires confidence and brings a bit of fun back into it. We may lose, but I always feel optimistic when I see him playing

@IainWatson7 Give it Thompson till the end of the season, what’s the point of bringing someone in now who’s a stranger to all the players?

@LukeCaster If NT keeps us up, that will be some achievement.

@fittall1987 Really enjoying the reaction Thompson is getting from the group. Built on lots of hard work! Makes the Pulis and Monk debacles even more frustrating but we’re in with a fighting chance now

@_Jamerzh_ Wouldn't it be ironic if the answer to our problems on the field was right there all along?! NT deserves the job until the summer at least. Finally, the players look like they want to play for the gaffer.

@ChrisBramms Paterson led the line superbly and made a mockery of Pulis' claim that he isn't a striker. The more I look back at Pulis' tenure the more baffled I am by it.

@Bellamyswfc What a job Thompson is doing! UTO
