Darren Moore has a new counterpart to plot success against next season after a fellow League One newcomer confirmed the signing of their new manager.

Promoted through the League Two playoffs, Morecambe last week parted ways with Derek Adams, who decided to drop back into the fourth tier to take on a challenge at Bradford City.

And now former Northern Ireland international Stephen Robinson will take over having previously held managerial posts at Oldham Athletic and Motherwell.

“I am delighted to have agreed to become the manager of Morecambe FC and I am really looking forward to the challenge ahead,” he said.

Former Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson has joined Sheffield Wednesday's League One rivals Morecambe.

“I have been very impressed with the club and everyone involved in the process. We are looking to build on last season's successful promotion campaign and look to firmly establish the club in league One.

“There is a lot of work in terms of recruitment in the coming weeks and getting us prepared for the club's first season in League One.”
