Goalkeeper Lee Grant, who made 145 appearances for the Owls from 2007 to 2010, signed for the Old Trafford side in July 2018 to act as the club’s number three goalkeeper behind David De Gea and Sergio Romero.
In a quirk of Premier League rules, clubs must have so many English-qualified players in their squad, meaning some squads feature experienced English keepers in a bid to make up the numbers. Another veteran former Owls stopper, Scott Carson, is on loan at Manchester City from Derby County.

But it appears he may be able to continue what he described last season as a ‘dream come true’ after reports in the national media suggested talks over a new contract, and a new role, were underway.
They say 38-year-old Grant is set to stay on as a player/coach after his current deal expires in the summer.
His playing action has been limited since joining United having made only two cup appearances, but speaking last year, Solskjaer described the level of professionalism his third-choice keeper has displayed in his time there.

“He has a world-class attitude. He’s probably the fittest of the keepers. He always does extra.”
