Eagle-eyed Sheffield Wednesday fans have noticed that the betting market for the Owls’ next permanent boss following Tony Pulis’ sacking has been suspended.

But that does not necessarily indicate that Dejphon Chansiri's appointment of a new manager is imminent.

The market for Sheffield Wednesday’s next manager has been suspended as the bookies commit to payout once a caretaker has been in charge for ten games or more.

Indeed, yesterday's 2-0 win against Wycombe Wanderers was temporary boss Neil Thompson's ninth game in charge in all competitions.

That means that if the 57-year-old takes charge of Saturday's Championship clash against Swansea City he will be – in the eyes of the bookies – Sheffield Wednesday’s next permanent manager.

Thompson’s tenure so far has seen the Owls move out of the relegation zone following an impressive run of results.
