Over the course of the past few weeks, the likes of Gus Poyet, Paul Cook, and Joey Barton have all been at linked with the top job at Hillsborough, only to tumble down the list of contenders a few days later.
According to a fresh report from Sky Sports, Wednesday could turn to Cosmin Contra as they search for their next permanent boss, with the 45-year-old Romanian out of work after leaving Dinamo Bucharest in December.
But as yet, his presence as a potential candidate is yet to be reflected in the market, and he is not considered to be one of the favourites for the job.
