Liam Palmer put in another fine performance for Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday afternoon as they beat Bristol City away at Ashton Gate, and he’s very pleased at how things have gone since the restart.

The Owls have now picked up four points from a possible six against two teams chasing a Play-Off place as football finally resumed this month, and the SWFC academy graduate is one of a few players to have played all 180+ minutes.

Now, after helping his side climb up to 13th place with a 2-1 victory, ‘Palms’ is eager for the team to start looking up rather than down.

Speaking after the game, the 28-year-old said, “It’s a big three points, we desperately needed a win, and I think we deserved a win the last time out, but we didn’t quite manage it.

“It was good to see it out today and take that momentum from the last game into this one and hopefully we can start looking up rather than looking over our shoulder.”

Having started with a 3-5-2 formation for both games this month, with Palmer playing as a right-sided centre back, things are looking up for the club in terms of results, and the defender thinks that it is a setup that suits them.

He went on to say, “We’ve got into a new system now that we’re all buying into, and it seems to be working well so far.

“It’s a slightly different position for me personally, but I think we have the personnel as a whole in the team to be able to adapt to that – almost like a strength in depth in that formation.

“You’ve seen different lads like Kads (Kadeem Harris) and Murphs (Jacob Murphy) fill in on the sides, and they’ve done that seamlessly, so I think it suits our players’ style of play.”

Next up for Wednesday is a tough game against high-flying West Bromwich Albion as they seek to go three games without defeat for the first time since their strong end to 2019 back in December.
