'My word, comedy defending again for their goal' - Sheffield Wednesday fans have their say on Blackburn Rovers draw

Sheffield Wednesday had to settle for a point against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park this afternoon after Adam Reach’s sublime first half goal was cancelled out by Joe Rothwell’s solo effort after the break.

The draw means the Owls move to within three points of safety at the foot of the Sky Bet Championship, although they have played two games more than South Yorkshire neighbours Rotherham United whose last couple of matches have been postponed due to a Covid-19 outbreak within the Millers camp.

Writing on Twitter after the game, our Wednesday correspondent Joe Crann wrote: “I’d have taken a point beforehand, probably. But it’s so frustrating to see #SWFC throwing winning positions away time after time. So many points lost.”

But what did Wednesdayites make of today’s game across the Pennines?

Let’s take a look what you’re saying on Twitter.

@themunchkin2011 Five points from safety, we can’t look at Rotherham’s points coz they got some games in hand over us. We need to look at Forest.

@tezowl Would have taken that result before but we should have had all three. Not making changes cost us.

@ianxwiles We need three of four players to stay up. Good point today I suppose despite being utterly demoralised watching it. UTO.

@cobi_stokes After Middlesbrough, there’s some relatively easy games coming up in Derby, Wycombe and Coventry. Six points there and we’ll be well positioned. But we need to cut out these sloppy goals when were trying to be disciplined.

@WednesdayRetro A point away . . . we need wins to have a chance of staying up, but when your players just let a player breeze past them without putting a tackle or foot in, you aren’t going to win. We’ve got to start setting the team up to have a go at teams and try and win matches.

@SWFCSteveBrown Will take that, could have easily lost it at the end. We didn’t deserve to win it, in fact we looked poor again until we scored against the run of play. Can’t see us chalking up too many wins until we start to dominating sides. Good fighting point away for us in the end.

@michael_1867 Always disappointing not to win when you’ve taken the lead but a good point for us today. Still need to show more up front but positives in the last two games for us to build on. There may be some hope yet.

@DirtyLyle Probably would have been happy with a point at Blackburn ordinarily. But we now desperately need to start getting three points out of matches.

@Owlizee Would have taken a point before kick off but my word comedy defending again for their goal.

@Jordrl66 Only have to look at xG for our games and see where issue is. Point not bad today but isn’t going to get us out of this mess.

@RichBeev I’d have snapped your hand off had we been offered a point before the game. But our lack of threat is worrying. Need that January window to come fast! #SWFC
